No matter what time of year you’re visiting Auckland, there’s always an event that is interesting for everyone. Every year the calendar is full of cultural festivals, major sports competitions, international stage shows, concerts and exhibitions.
The Globe Theatre was a theatre in London associated with William Shakespeare. It was built in 1599 by Shakespeare's playing company. The theatre was destroyed by fire on 29 June 1613. A second Globe Theatre was built on the same site by June 1614 and closed in 1642.
Pop-up Globe Auckland is a full-scale, working, temporary replica of Shakespeare’s second Globe Theatre, the result of international academic research.
This round three-storey building is designed to create a remarkable theatre experience. Wherever in the theatre you sit or stand, you are just within 15m of the action on stage and surrounded on all sides by people sharing the same space and experience.
The replica of the theatre can accommodate up to 900 viewers which completely surround the stage. The address: Bard's Yard, 38 Greys Avenue, Auckland CBD
Upcoming Events at Pop-up Globe Theatre: Romeo & Juliet, Twelfth Night
Mountain Bike Raiders in Pakuranga: excellent place for BMX track racing. 2015/16 summer racing season is now complete. Next season starts: Oct 2016.
Another great event - Brit & Euro Classic Car Show. A special day show-casing cars of a classic style at Lloyd Elsmore Park, Pakuranga, Auckland.
Ocean swim series completed in the beginning of April.
