At the 5th minute was great Chance for Ukraine. Oooooh, what a save from Neuer. Fedetskiy made a pass to Konoplyanka, who kicked to the top corner. And great save by Neuer!
At the 21st minute Germany scores from free kick! Kroos’s performed the kick and Mustafi scores an opener.
Ukraine is mostly playing in defense, having only 36% of possession.
At 22nd minute Ukraine forces a corner, and Khacheridi heads at goal. Neuer sticks out a hand and throws the ball over the bar.
So in spite such a great advantage of German in possession, Ukraine have had teo real chances to score. Thanks to Neuer the Germany leads in the game.
34 min, another excellent chance for Ukraine to score. Yarmolenko made great pass to the back post. Konoplyanka arrives from deep and hits across goal. Boateng clears a shot off the line just in the very last second. And the goal-line technology shows that it was very close to goal.
At 38 min Ukraine scores! But it was offside. A cross from Konoplyanka from the left and Kovalenko sends the ball around the six yard box, and Zozulya taps the ball into the net, but the linesman has put his flag up because of Kovalenko.
To summarise: it was an amazing half. Germany started well, scored a goal. But Ukraine finished very strong, having several real chances to score.
‘Man of the match’ - Toni Kroos played simply awesome today.
It was he who curled the ball in superbly for Mustafi to head in after 19 minutes.
Another brilliant pass was from Kroos later for Sami Khedira. But Khedira’s shot was saved by Ukraine goalkeeper Andriy Pyatov.
Kroos hit the corner of the post and crossbar early in the second half and made 112 passes during the game, five more than Ukraine's top three passers combined.
Though Ukraine have had few real chances to score. Neuer was kept busy in the German goal and Boateng made a brilliant goal-line clearance after he diverted Konoplyanka's effort towards his own net.
Jerome Boateng cleared off the line superbly while keeper Manuel Neuer made several good saves too.
Yevhen Konoplyanka was quite active for Ukraine but they tired. Thus Schweinsteiger scored a late second.
For Bastian Schweinsteiger it was the first game since 20 March because of a knee injury. He came off the bench in stoppage time and two minutes later scored a volley style goal from a swift counter attack.
