80,000 spectators came to the national stadium for the Euro 2016 opener for the game between France and Romania. The opening ceremony featured can-can dancers, members of the French Air Force, Musician andDJ David Guetta and raising Swedish singer star Zara Larsson. They performed the official anthem of Euro 2016 - ‘This One's For You’. They all produced a colourful great show which involved about 600 participants.
The playing surface was transformed into a traditional French garden with the dancers decked in blue, red and white and can-can girls. DJ David Guetta performed few hits in the centre circle.
Thus EURO 2016 is finally underway. First time in European Championship participate 24 teams, eight more than before.
There are six groups of four teams apiece, which were seeded and drawn together back in December. France automatically got a top seed, while Spain, Germany, England, Portugal and Belgium joined them in Pot 1. Teams play everyone else in their group once, with the top two automatically advancing to the Round of 16. The top four third-placed teams will also make the knockout stage.
From the Round of 16 all the way through to the final, knockout games will go to two 15-minute periods of extra time if tied at the end of 90 minutes, to be played in their entirety. If the score is still deadlocked after that, the teams go to a penalty shootout.
