Group D, Euro 2016—Bordeaux, France

FT: Croatia 2-1 Spain

Scorers: Morata (7'), Kalinic (45'), Perisic (86')
Referee: Bjorn Kuipers (Holland)

Croatia this last game in a group played without injured Luka Modric. But they looked pretty solid in all lines: in defence as well as in attack. So they deserved their win over Spain pretty much.
7th min
David Silva was the creator of an opener, taking out three Croatian defenders with a slide-rule pass into the penalty area. Cesc Fabregas got the ball and then he shoots across the face of goal, taking out Danijel Subasic. Thus Alvaro Morato relatively easy sent the ball into an empty net.

1:0 for Spain

45 min.
Ivan Perisic went down the left flank and crossed towards the near post. Rakitic got a light touch, then Kalinic got in front of Ramos to send the ball home just inside the upright from close position.
Draw in the match at the end of first half - 1:1.

Penalty to Spain: David Silva tumbles to the ground in the Croatia penalty area with Sime Vrsaljko behind him. Quite disputable penalty, but referee decision should be respected.

71 min.
Sergio Ramos smashes the ball at Danijel Subasic, who saved awesome.
86 min. Croatia attacked on the break and Perisic finds himself on the ball galloping down the left flank. He cuts inside and shoots diagonally and his effort takes a slight deflection before embarrassing David De Gea, who is beaten at his near post. Ivan Perisic scores for Croatia the second winning goal.
2:1 for Croatia

Now - road to Stade de France, to the final 10 July.

Look at our image which shows those teams who already qualified to knock out stage and those who still have chances. And look at our new article where we will inform about the latest updates!!

Croatia have won group D and will play one of the third-placed teams.
Spain’s defeat means they finish second and will play Italy (!) in Paris next Monday night.
In Group D, Turkey’s 2-0 win over the Czech Republic earned them third place in the group. They will next face either Wales or France in the last 16.
One thing fo sure - the Northern Ireland qualified to the last 16.

Now we explain the way of selection of the last 16 with 24 teams in the group stages at Euro 2016, that does not divide neatly into 16 qualifying for the knockout stages.

The best four third-placed teams from the six groups progress to the last 16.
These are the teams currently third in each group. The top four go through. If points are level, it comes down to goal difference, then goals scored, then fair play rankings from the group and finally - if they still cannot be divided - Uefa national team coefficient rankings

So far, 12 teams have made it through:

Group A: France, Switzerland

Group B: Wales, England, Slovakia
Wales finished top of the group with six points, while England finished second on five points.
Wales will play either Albania, Turkey or Northern Ireland in the last 16,
England play the runners-up of Group F. That will be Portugal, Iceland, Austria or Hungary.
Slovakia finished third - and were the first third-placed side to be assured of a place in the last 16. They will face either Germany or Croatia in the next round.

Group C: Germany, Poland, Northern Ireland

Group D: Croatia, Spain

Group E: Italy

Group F: Hungary
