Emanuel Yarbrough, the largest MMA fighter in its history, passed away on Monday at the age of 51. At one time, he was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest athlete.

He was an American amateur sumo wrestler and mixed martial arts (MMA) competitor, judo, wrestling and played American football. Inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame March 2nd, 2013. International Sumo Wrestling’s Ambassador.

One time he weighed up to 882 lb (400 kg), holding the Guinness World Record for the heaviest living athlete.
He was the 1995 World Amateur Sumo Champion and is considered to be one of the most famous sumo wrestlers outside Japan. Yarbrough competed in amateur sumo which is very different from the professional sumo that is so popular in Japan.
From 1996 to 1997, Yarbrough competed in professional wrestling in Germany where he performed under a mask.
He took part in a sumo tournament against the entire staff of the promotion, being declared winner after beating everybody except August Smisl and Terminator Mastino. He later won another sumo tournament.
Yarbrough participated in the UFC in 1994, before the implementation of weight classes. He is the largest competitor in the promotion's history.
He faced karate master Keith Hackney in UFC 3. Yarbrough tossed Hackney out of the cage at the beginning but lost the fight after Hackney pounded him with scores of unanswered strikes just in 1:59.
For his victory Keith Hackney got the nickname "The Giant Killer".
Yarbrough never fought in the UFC again.
In 1998 he fought in Japan for the Shooto promotion. He faced Tatsuo Nakano, a former shoot-style pro wrestler who was much smaller than Yarbrough. It was there that Yarbrough scored the only victory of his pro career with an unusual submission that came by way of "smother" in 1:17.
On June 24, 1998 at Pride 3, at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo, Japan, Emmanuel Yarborough took on Daiju Takase.
Takase weighed in at 169 pounds while Yarborough tipped the was 600. For Takase it has been a MMA debut. Takase avoided engaging Yarbrough and earned a yellow card for inactivity, but a failed takedown got him positioned over Emanuel on the ground, which allowed him to hit him until the fight stopped. So Yarbrough lost in the second round by submission.
He participated in a 1997 Bollywood film Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi which features Bollywood action hero Akshay Kumar. Also ne appeared on several talk shows and in a commercial for Motorola. He has also appeared on the HBO drama Oz as an inmate named Clarence Seroy. Also he played himself in the German wrestling film Sumo Bruno.
