Sevilla claimed a record fourth UEFA Europa League title with a 3-2 victory over Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in a thrilling final Wednesday night in Warsaw, Poland. In this game happened so much: a history being made, plenty goals scored, dreadful defending and lots of drama.

Dnipro took an unexpected lead through Nikola Kalinic in the seventh minute, though the holders hit back with two goals in three minutes from Grzegorz Krychowiak and Carlos Bacca. Ruslan Rotan netted a fine free-kick just before half-time to cap an entertaining first half and draw Dnipro level at 2-2, but Bacca scored the winner 17 minutes from time.

The result means Spain will have five teams in the Champions League next season, joining Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Valencia.

More details:
A long ball was knocked on by former Blackburn striker Kalinic for Matheus, who waited for his team-mate to run into the area before sending in a cross for Kalinic to head home.

Sevilla immediately tried to get back, but found it difficult to break down a Dnipro defending line that had retreated into their own half.

Their equaliser came when Dnipro failed to clear Ever Banega's corner and Krychowiak drove a shot through a crowd and into the net.

As the corner is swung in to Bacca, who controls with his back to goal. Krychowiak picks up the ball, taking it out of his feet before drilling low and hard past Boyko to score the second goal of the game.

Few minutes later Matheus swings a cross into the far-post, with Konoplyanka making a run into the far post - but he can't quite stretch to meet the ball.

And Sevillas’ answer - a superb finish by Bacca. He runs onto a neat through ball from Reyes before rounding Boyko with a superb first-touch, and then slotting in from a tight angle.

The goal makes Unai Emery feel relaxed, his team leads 2-1 at 31’.

But Dnipro’s Ruslan Rotan’s made it 2-2 right before the first half whistle with a clever free-kick.

The two teams went into half time with a scoreline that read 2-2 and an equally exciting second half awaited the viewers. Both teams had chances before Bacca broke through in the 73rd minute to seal victory for Sevilla.

Sevilla coach Unai Emery said after the win, “Reaching the final was the most important thing and once we did we had to enjoy it. I’m very happy here,”
“We wanted this competition a lot, all Sevilla did. There have been a lot of finals, this the latest, against a very physical, strong team. The joy makes the work worthwhile.
“We have always competed with many difficulties. We had to continue working whether the game was in our favour or against us. At half-time we talked and said we had to be calm because we were required to compete in attack and defence. This group deserves it.”

Carlos Bacca said, “I am very happy for the trophy. It was our objective. I dedicate it to God, all the people of Colombia, my family, my wife. It is something unique. I want to enjoy this moment. I helped with two goals but the important thing is the team won the trophy.”

Dnipro coach Myron Markevych, whose side played exceptionally well, especially considering this was their first European final, said post the match, “Unfortunately we allowed Bacca the chance to be aggressive. We made a lot of mistakes in defence.Sevilla were more experienced, and I think that showed. But we tried to play our best game.”
