Kate Middleton and Prince William welcomed their first daughter, the Princess of Cambridge, on May 2, 2015.
The baby was born at 8:34 a.m., U.K. time, in the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital in London. She weighs 8 pounds, 3 ounces. (Her brother George weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces when he was born.)
This is the couple’s second child and a sister to one-year-old Prince George.
She is fourth in line to the throne, behind grandfather Charles, father Prince William, and brother George. She shifted her uncle Prince Harry down to fifth in line, with Prince Andrew and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie falling to sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.
Her name will be released any moment from now. Speculation over what name might be given to the princess going on.
Alice and Charlotte are so far the bookmakers' favourite, followed by Victoria, Olivia and Elizabeth.
Some people urged the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to name the princess after William's mother Diana, who died in a 1997 car crash aged 36.
